According to the French Education law of 1968 :
« The parents' association works in the interest of the pupils of the school, together with the head teacher, the board and the teaching body to build an efficient partnership between home and school. The associations support the parents of the school. ».
« Accordingly, the association should advise the the head and/or the board on any problems arising at the school. For each problem, the advice given wil be taken into consideration. »
The Association must work as a partner of the head and the teachers for the development and the revision of school policies such as internal rules, policies concerning collective actions on health education, kitchen commission, etc.
Research undertaken in the field of education about the involvement of parents in the school, proves that children fare better if the parents and teachers work together.
